Yeah, I can confirm that I've had troubles with pre 6.0 versions of Nero with my Lite-On. I'd recommend trying RecordMax Now 4.5 or higher or trying to upgrade to the latest Nero.

Ritek RIDATA G04 DVD-R will work on most standalone players and also in Xbox and PS2.

Hi there

I dunno if this problem has cropped up with anyone before but, i seem to be having ap roblem that is cheesing me off.

Ok, so my 411S worked perfectly fine for months. Then only recently it starts giving me errors when burning dvd+rws (Maxell 4x). At first i thought it was the disc, maybe its dead or something (have bene used abit) so i tried a new one. Got to 99% and it gave me a burn failed error (with nero) but the data was fine on it and stuff. strange.

But now ,it wont burn the dvdrws at all now. Ive tried several programs and they either say that the format is unsupported or that there was an error. And that is before the burning starts. When it does begin to burn and i begin to smile, it cuts out and gives me "power calibration errors" and "the drive has encountered problems" and all this other nonsense. The wierd thing is the, the drive makes some funny noises when DVDRW discs are in.

Anyone know what teh problem is ? And if it can be rectified (please dont make me buy a new one) And would this affect me being able to oc it to a 811s ?

If it's making funny noises then it's a hardware problem, contact the store where you got it from asap and ask for a replacement or how to rma it. You want to do this as soon as possible.

Well. I believe the problem is now fixed. I flashed the drive up to FS0J and it works now, DVDRW write perfectly fine.

Just need to figure out how to go about OCing it to a 811S now.

Nope it doesnt. And its now an 811S. Amazing.

Strange really, there is no way to explain the problem from before..i mean...it must be magic or something, cos with a simple firmware upgrade and it "magically" starts working again. Weird eh.

Thanks alot

Hi, im from Argentina, excuse my poor english.

I bought a 411s a week ago.
I used the latest firmware i found on Lite-on web page.

I use decrypter to burn a couple of movies with diferent dvd-rs.
The first i burned work fine in my stand alone.
The other one had some problems. When i play it, the reproduction freezes in some frames (for a second and then continues) and every minute happens the same.

Could this be a problem with the media? with the burning software? or with the writer?

I didn't make already all the changes that are sugested at the top of the topic. Could that help my with this problem?

Whatever you can told me i'm thankful.
And excuse my writing again.

It could be the media, try burning at the slowest speed, also try the things listed above, and try to get better media.

I wrote it at 2x
Thank for the help.
I didnt touch anything so far because i'm not so expert.
I ask you something: to set the writer as a master i must just change the jumper on the back or must i set something else.

Could help me use a better burnign software, like recordmax?

Thanks for the info.

I've done some extensive tests with system as I had similar problems related to nForce IDE chipset and drivers.

http://www.cdburnerxp.se/forum/viewtopi ... =3830#3830

check it out, basically you use the NVIDIA drivers and choose Multi-word DMA 2, not Uttra DMA. the default windows IDE works poorly for me, huge CPU use, windows IDE in DMA mode locked up the burner. So the actual reference drivers were the best bet in the end once I tested every single mode.

Your original post re Liteon-LDW411s drives included reference to: javascript:emoticon('') "UPDATE: Nero is reported to have problems burning DVDs with the Liteon LDW-411s, It is recommended that you burn the DVD's with another program".... Can you provide any additional information on this please? I've been using the latest version of Nero vision Express (NVE 3.1.0.0) to transcode avis and then burn to Verbatim -R DVDs. These usually do not play back in my LiteOn LDW-411s drive (firmware version FSOK)although if I use Cyberlink Power DVD v6, this will usually "force" the disk to play, albeit with audio stuttering at the very beginning. They will not play back on a Philips DVD707 standalone player either. However, if I use NVE to transcode direct to HD and then Elaborate Bytes Clone DVD v2.8.2.1 to create the DVD, they work always with no replay problems on both LDW-411s and Philips DVD707. I'd like to be able to use NVE for the entire process instead of two applications. Is there a solution I wonder? (XP Pro, SP1, 1gB RAM) Thanks - David
