Okay, so my new floppy dirve doesn't work. My computer recognizes the drive, but whenever I put a disc in, it informs me that it isn't formatted. When I try to format the disc, it tells me that the disc can't be formatted. This is confusing me, so please help .
Oh, I think the drive is a sony one. I bought it because my old one did the same thing when I put it in the new computer, but now this one does it too.
Thanks for reading.

take the floppy drive out of the case, keep it all plugged in
boot up the computer, does the floppy light stay lit, if so, the cable is reversed
if the light doesnt stay lit then try reading a disc with the drive out of the casing

Okay, I finally took the floppy out of the case, and what do you know, it works. So I put it back in the case and start up again, and it doesn't work anymore. Now how do I make it work in the case?
