From reading various articles XBox 2 will have 3 3.5 Ghz Dual-Core 64bit processors, that alone is some bad ass power. It will also feature a custom Radeon R520 GPU @500+Mhz
Each core has two symmetric hardware threads (SMT), for a total of six hardware threads available to games. Not only does the “Xenon CPU” include the standard set of PowerPC integer and floating-point registers (one set per hardware thread), the microprocessor also includes 128 vector (VMX) registers per hardware thread. This astounding number of registers can drastically improve the speed of common mathematical operations, according to the document.

I thought consoles were supposed to be an inespensive alternative to computer gaming. At this rate, its going to be the other way around. I'm glad they are getting more powerful, but I sure as hell aint spending 400-500 on a console.

If they made them 400-500 they wouldn't sell nearly as many, i don't think that would be a smart route for them. right now Microsoft is expected to turn a profit from the xbox system, they spend lots in develupment and are still losing money on each actual system being sold as they cost more than they are being sold for, they make most thier money on the games, and sometimes i think they started in the console business solely to take some of the market share from Sony

400-500 for that system is a very good deal, try buying a computer with that kind of power for that price when it comes out, that schematic is not an MS source, so there is the posibility that is not what it will be, although the graphics card should be that powerful.

Yes, compartivly on a console you get alot more bang for the buck simpley becuase the game is made directly for that console, but the fact is how many parents will want to spring the extra 200-300 dollars for thier kids christmas/birthday present?
