Hi, about 2 hours ago i unistalled service pack 2 (don't ask why but i thought it was a good idea at the time) so i take it off my computer and boot it up again, everything seems normal, until i connect to the internet, and firefox (my current browser) says it has loaded a webpage, which it hasn't! anyway, i try going home again and it says it's there, but nothing is on the screen...odd huh, anyway, i then try IE and it loads up fine, but before it loads the homepage, it says it need to close down, due to an error...

i know i'm on the net, becuase i can still log onto msn, icq (yes, should get trillian , lol) but my browsers can't seem to load up anything! i try a restore point but they all got deleted when i un installed SP2...

Anyway, i re-install SP2 thinking it will solve my problem, but the same thing happens, browser open, says its at the homepage, but nothing is on the screen!

Is there anything i can do to fix this problem? do i need to install anything, the only way i'm on the net now is because my sister was nice enough to lend me her laptop for 10 minutes, lol, so if anybody knows how to fix this (and yes, i tried re-installing the browsers and installing other browsers also, but nothing works :( ) please post a.s.a.p! All help will be appriciated!

Thanks for reading and please help me find a solution!

well, it means that dns is working

I would just backup and reformat, and this time keep sp2 on the machine

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do i do that?

It's a school laptop, and i don't have any of the programs to re-install, i'm on holidays, so is there anyway i can do it without wiping my hard-drive?
