ide adaptor problem

help...
ive just got an ide to usb2 adaptor...
the instructions say that xp should recognise it with adriver
but it doesnot. Ive tried using xk connection to internet to find driver but it comes up empty.
in my device manager it shows a mass storage device but with the yellow marker. and code 10 or 28 in properties
can anyone help ..im stuck with an internal dvd writer which i cant use cause i cant get the lap top to recognise the ide adapotor
