CD-RW Drive Problems

I bought a 48x12x50 BenQ CD-RW a few years ago. I've been using it for only reading and burning, no rewriting. I decided to update the firmware recently and encountered a problem when the BenQ website didn't have my drive so I took it out and checked it, its an Aopen CDRW4850. I then tried to flash it with Aopen software and now it won't even read. Can anyone help me get working firmware on it or do I have to buy a new drive?
