Missing or corrupt <windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Hi, i recently was using Hijackthis, adaware, and Spybot: Seek and Destroy to clean out spyware from my computer. The hal.dll file is now missing or currupted. I unfortunently do not have my Windows XP MEdia center CD, but i have a Windows XP CD i borrowed from a friend to use (I get to the steps where windows asks me to repair and press R when booting with the CD). My computer has a recovery drive, H, but i cannot get it to recover. I tried using bootcfg /list but there is not list because my two options to use when using the recovery. It says there is not a list to be found. What can i do?
