pc wont boot

hey ive recently been havin this problem. wn i turn the main switch on, the cpu's lights turn on but it doesnt beep like it used to. nd nothing comes on the monitor either. i waited for like 5 mins n still da same. then i manually switched off the cpu couple of time before it turned on again. anyone know what the problem could be and plz try to make the explanantion as simple as possible as i aint that good wiv hard computer short cuts. cheers!!!

Ok you might have a problem, if you are comfortable inside a computer here's what to do. Start by disconnecting the CD ROM, and Hard Drive power connectors. Remove any other boards except for you're graphics board. Now try and boot up see if you get a POST screen, if yes then one at a time replace each item you took out and plug in CD ROM and hard drive one at a time. Boot up after each item is replaced. If there was no change you will have to find you're BIOS type and follow this link. http://www.computerbb.org/about1720.html Now you will have to remove the video card, then RAM, each time listening to the beep code. This will tell you the problem. Still no beeps, then check the power supply, if good the it will be either M/B or CPU :shock:

thnx for the advice. my pc turned on again normally but im sure the problem is goin to come bck so ill keep wteva u have said in my mind. one more thing...how do u find out what bios type uve got. thnx once again

should say when you first start up on the POST screen e.g. American Megatrends Inc
