Before you start make sure you backup files that you may want to keep, and make sure you have any driver disks you may need. Go to you're control panel and make note of modem, sound board, NIC card, printer, display, and any others you may have in you're computer. If you want to start compleatly fresh you will have to do a format of you're hard disk. If you do that make sure you have a system disk with the "format.exe" and make sure it's bootable. You may also need to change you're BIOS boot order when you format the drive to CD, "A", hard drive. Memory is cleard every time you power down and re boot

Here is a link that will explain it step by step for XP, check it out and print it for reference. Should you still need help let us know. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=313348 PS you will have to reactivate windows after you reinstall, that may require you to call Microsoft, just let them kow you had to reformat the drive.

For the most part it's not that hard, just follow the instructions, the important part is.... How to partition and format your hard disk by using the Windows XP Setup program.... Change the BIOS boot order, most computers you press the delate key when you start up, whtch the screen once or twice as you start up it should tell you what key, if not let us know the make and model.

If your BIOS key is not delete, either try other buttons (my BIOS comes up after pressing F10, there are also some with F1 and others) or search on google to figure out which key if the specific one for your computer
