RAM compatability question

I am building a computer and I was thinking of buying a <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6287369&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01071&id=1072287119130">Soyo ATX Socket 478</a> mobo (since I already have a socket 478 Intel Celeron and it's cheap), and it says:
Three DDR SDRAM 400/333/266 2.5-volt DIMM sockets; support up to 3.0GB
I have a RAM chip that says 256MB PC2700 DDR on it (I got it for free so I don't have the package). It looks like it would fit in the RAM port, but will it work? Thanks. (Sorry that I'm such a n00b at RAM)

It will work, though might I suggest you get more? 256 just isn't enough for happiness.

Yes, I am getting another 256mb or 512. I haven't decided whether 512 will be enough. Thanks for the reply.

I would go for the DDR 400 and see if you can sell the PC2700 on FleaBay, you will be much happier, and get 1gig mininum

Well, my Intel Celeron is only 1.8GHz, so I won't have too much luck getting my multitasking up to 1GB without overloading my CPU. Of course I'll overclock it, but it still won't make it over 2GHz. Another question: If I use the 333MHz RAM I already have, then if I buy a 400MHz chip will it all run at 333MHz?

Advice don't mix ram types and speed, yes it may work but.... are you willing to crash you're system in the middle of a application?

Right, thanks. I'll probably buy more DDR PC2700 then.
