My ScanDisk keeps refreshing and more.....

Bought a 256mb scan disk from mac store, been using if for 2months, 1st problem happened 1 month ago..
-I save only pics, 400 pixel 48k size each so small, all of a sudden my thumnails w/mini pic disapeared and replaced by a icon w/big E on it? Pic will still open under photoshop but my thumbnail pic is gone? any ideas?\
2nd prob:
-After the 1st prob about 1week every file I have on the disk ( about 6) when opened and I am browsin thru them the constantly refresh take me to the top of the file and rearrange them : Name/date ect this happens every 5 seconds...? Please help!!
I am on a powerbook G3 Mac, old operatings system of 8.6, but scan disk says can run no prob on that system... Have 3G of memory still availbe on comp so no idea why this is happening..
I ran a nortons anti virus and defrag and disk dr. too no change..
I am sorry I am not completely comp litterat so speak in lamons terms please! Thanks for anyone who can help!!

I'm not a MAC person, but did you run Adaware or Spybot, I believe they make a version for MAC. Also check the Norton virus signature update, make sure you do have the latest, some virus will block updates.

Yep, updated my Nortons AntiVirus ect just before I ran them, they didnt find any visues or and fragmented files, so they say..
Called a Mac Ginius about it they said no know virus's in Mac at all!? hhmm
But I did run all the anti virus and disk Dr.s I could. no probs found... But still having issues...
