Hi there... just trying trying to find some information about what should i do with my laptop.. bought it a year ago, toshiba Satelite A 40, 30 gig, 256 ram, cd burner... Today, i think it need a bit more of ram--> i could go for a 256 ram extra. i do need a dvd burner--> because on this world of the digital / numerique camera , the cd is now to small to get something on. --> so lets say an external dvd driver. (£50) But i do want as well some more memory harddrive...i just decide i don t want to buy any more cd, but now just download them..(people say this is the future)(i am out of date)--> you can get a external 250 gb for £100/120 on the web.. So from that, i have the same laptop, with a good ram, big harddrive, and a dvd burner for my picture to save as storage. or the other option are to sell the one i have and go for a new laptop who will have already the dvd, enought ram, and enought hardrive capacity... but may be just for an extra year!!! the worry as well is that you have to take in consideration that your external hardrive can crashed, and your 250gb collection of music could be disapeard!!!!!!!! thanks

I would suggest this 1. get a external backup hard drive, they start at about $100. 2. Ram is easy to get and upgrade, so you save there. 3. IS the CD rom in the laptop removable? If so get one for the lap top, this way you'll save money in the long run

on my way to open the body of my laptop, should i?

hi! have a laptop toshiba satelite A40 and i decide to had it a bit of ram - only have 256, today, so i thought to add an other 256 could be a good point to speed it a bit. i want to buy it on crucial.com but do you think that something easy to install, or should i ask to a It shop to do it for me... never open the body of my laptop, but, i can try, but i dont want to do something wrong.. and about an external hard drive, recommendation and some to avoid actually, the thought are for liteon 16xdual format double layer external dvdrw drive that s for the dvd writter and for the extra harddrive a freecom - classic 250 gb- 23237- then, i need to add some usb port.. not enought... any recommendation thanks

You can install up to 2048 gig of memory, you can use a USB hard drive or get a USB CD/DVR write/rewrite or both. Personally I think any system shoud have two hard drive or a place to back up in case of data lose. The lap top you have is good, the externalls will last you for many years. You wont use them as often, to burn music files/backup the hard drive.
