Hey all. My dad's friend gave me a new computer. Just a little bit better than the one I had. And I want to put the CD burner from my other computer into this new one... I do it all correctly but the computer does not start up with it in it... :( So I run it in SAFE MODE and I went into My COmputer and there is no D Drive at all. So the computer hasen't even recognised that there is a disk drive in it. I try to 'add new hardware' but it still does not recognise it... I also have another OLD cd burner and I tried putting that in and exactly the same thing happenes - the computer does not start up and doesn't recognise the D Drive. Oh and I'm using Windows XP. Help would be much appreciated! As I am thinking about purchasing a DVD Burner.. So I want the DVD Burner to work!! :D Thanks P.S. I'm not a big computer 'whizz'. lol.

put it on the secondary ide channel, alone, and set the jumpers for master also make sure the power is plugged in along with the ide cable
