I recently got and installed a new processor, but in my system properties it says Im still using the older one. I tried scanning for new hardware in the device manager but that didnt work. Srry Im kinda new in this area so if theres any information u need just ask. Heres the processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103341

Sounds to me like your new CPU wasn't automatically recognized by your motherboard. Get into you BIOS (usually F1 or the Delete key, during startup).. Your CPU frquency should be set at 166mhz, and your CPU mulitplier should be at 13x. If these setting are different than what I just said, it's still running the old cpu settings. Try setting it to 166mhz and 13x, it should fix the problem (if the motherboard will support that cpu)

Try plugging the monitor in question into another computer. This would rule out the monitor and tell ya whether it's a video card issue or not.

Monitor works on another computer, and I also tried using a different video card but that didnt work either. Is it my motherboard!?

Does the video card from the broken comp work in another computer? If it does, there is a good chance the motherboard is toast

Damnit, what about this red light next to the video card slot, is it supposed to be off or on?

Well, on my A7N8X mnotherboards the light should be green. I would assume red means a no-go This has to do with the AGP slot. The AGP slot should be ver3.0 or better. If it's an older video card, it may not be compliant with that motherboard.

Theres a green light on, but theres also a red light that flickers when I insert a video card. Is there any way to find out if ur motherboard is fried? If the motherboard was fried, would the fans still turn on? Could it just be the video card slot? Arg, I really dont want to buy another motherboard...

Do you get any indication of power when you try and turn it on?, How long did it run after you put un the new processor? You can try putting in the old processor and see what happens. What happened to the original video card?

Yes, but now the fans only stay on for a few seconds when I start up. I tried putting in the old proc, same results. As for the original video card, I still have it, but Im assuming its not the problem since it gets a little warm when the computer starts up, as does the proc, then again Im not sure. I tried putting in a different battery, but that didnt work either.

Q Do you loose indication of power after this? IF you do then I would assume that the power supply is partially shot. IF you have a old you can try putting it in and use the old processor and video card at first. Without a meter you'll have to try trouble shooting this way, Use all good know parts and see what you get

The motherboard seems to still be getting power, because the green light stays on. Not sure if thats the only way to indicate it.
