CPU or motherboard problem...

one day i woke up and tried turning my computer on and it acts as if its in standby mode, the hard drive turns on i can open and close the cd drives and the fan spins but i also get no screen and the monitor stays on standby, im posotive nothings wrong with the power suply, and im praying my processor isnt burnt out or damaged in any way iv tried 2 different video cards and thats not the problem either and i also checked to see if it was mounted correctly and thats not it....seems like the computer works fine....i just dont get a screen, i get no codes or anything when i boot up but i dont think anyone would if it was a processor(or motherboard)..... crap in my comp cpu INTEL PENTIUM4 2.53GHZ/512/533 (do these burn out often?) ram 256MB DDR-333MHz-CL2.5 i gotta do all this stuff by memmory so i apologise for the breif description im thinking their is a hi posibility the processor is burned out but if im right i dont think you can turn off a computer without running a process but i could be wrong =\ is ther any chance it could be the motherboard? and im using the monitor i tried on it right now....so its not that either

Try this boot up the computer and press the delete key to get into the BIOS setup, chane it in advanced settings to boot from CD first, then hard drive. now insert you're windows disk and see if you can boot up. This will rule out system problems, if you can get to a setup screen. See if you can , if not try again but with the hard drive power and cable disconnected. Let us know what happens.
