i'm hoping someone here can help me. i have a spreadsheet i need to update that the previous person responsible for this duty has saved in excel 4.0. i only had a trial version of excel when i purchased my computer and i use microsoft spreadsheet. i have been able to open the spreadsheet in microsoft spreadsheet but have a problem. there were columns in the spreadsheet that the writing was vertical (looks like it was rotated counter clockwise at a 90 degree angle) instead of horizontal. when i pull the spreadsheet up in microsoft the writing goes back to horizontal and therefore won't fit in the space. i can't make the spaces any bigger so i need the writing to be vertical. is there any way to make this happen?

I strongly suggest getting Microsoft Office because it is 100x better than Works.

OpenOffice is a free office suite that's better than Works and can read and write to Office files (like excel spreadsheets). You can download it at http://www.openoffice.org.
