I have the exact same problem. I'm using Windows XP Home with SP2 and all the newest updates. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried checking sound settings, I've tried everyting imaginable. I've contacted the Macromedia people support and they don't respond. What really pisses me off is that this is a common problem and they haven't even tried to fix it yet. Everything worked fine until I installed Flash 7. All my other sound works, Media Player, Winamp, and everything else. Sound recorder, Cool Audio. You name it they all work, it's a flash problem.

Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem. Sound on my PC works absolutely fine, except on websites that require Flash player or Shockwave to operate. Visuals work fine, I just can't get sound. Like others I've tried everything-uninstalling and reinstalling, going back to version 7, and even tried with Firefox. This is especially irritating for me, as my kids surf and 99% of childrens websites use flashplayer. I'm also running Win XP service pack 2. Does anyone have any ideas?
