I have a computer that had a trojan horse virus. I uninstalled and reinstalled windows. It still wasn't working correctly, so my husband decided to try to fix it. I have no idea what he did to it but now it won't do anything. It won't start in safe mode, it gives me several options to startup the computer, but none of them work, they either do nothing or act like it is going to start up in safe mode and I get a black screen and nothing else happens. No matter what I try, nothing happens. I don't know very much about troubleshooting computer problems. Can someone please help?
Thanks

What are you running XP, 2000, 98? You might have to do another repair, you can do this by putting in the CD and booting up. You will now have to select the repair option and let the system try and reinstall. If you do have a virus this will not fix the virus, to do this you may have to boot up with the disk that you have with you're virus software and scan the system. The other option is a compleat reinstall, but if you do this you will need to make sure you have all the drivers. You dodn't say if this is a store bought computer or custom made. Some systems have the restore CD's that come with it, make sure you have them before starting.

I have XP. When I put the CD into the computer it will start to run, but will not do anything to the computer. I don't know how to do a complete reinstall. It can't be too hard, but I don't know anything about it. My computer is a Dell. I have a Windows XP CD that came with my computer, that is what I have been trying to use. Do I need something else?
