I assume that both computers are using Windows XP proffesional when writing this guide.
1. Connect both computers together with a crossover ethernet cable.
2. Using the computer with the net connection, go to network connections, and click on the side where it says "set up a home or small office network"
3.Hit next twice, click on the ethernet card you are using, hit next, click that this computer is connecting directly to the internet, select your modem, confirm your computers discription and name, make a workgroup name, then a window comes up giving you a list of details on all of step three. Hit next, it will set it up and tell you whether or not to make a network disk, just click you dont need it on any other computers and then you will have to restart.
4. Using the computer with out the internet, go to network connections, back to "set up a home or small office network", click on the ethernet card you are using, then in the next window, select connect to another computer on the network, confirm computer description and name, make sure you type in the correct workgroup name you selected on the first computer, hit next and a list will come up giving you a list of details of this step, hit next, it will set it up then ask you to restart.
5. Once you restart, go back to the first computer, go to network connections, right click and go to properties. Go to the advanced tab, and select the box that says "allow other computers to share this computers internet connection". If that box isn't there, make sure windows firewall is enabled on both computers in the same tab.
It's been a long while since I last attempted this, so if anything here is wrong, pm me and ill change it.
