CPU temps

If anyone out there is running an AMD 2400+ "Barton" cpu, can you please lemme know what your average cpu temp is. I have a friend who I play an online game with, and his cpu is underclocked to 1500mhz (should be 2000mhz) and his puter is still running in the mid 50*c range. He said when he had it set at 133x15=1995 all his computer did was beep at him and shut itself off all the time. 1500mhz runs at 50*c, and his mobo starts beeping at 53*c.
He is using the stick AMD heatsink/fan that came with it. But these temps seem pretty high to me
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I usually run around 47c with a 2100+, but that's with a room temp of 78f
big factors in cpu temps are
tim (thermal interface material)
the latest arctic silver (5) is great, all you need is a VERY THIN layer
the heatsink
all copper works best, try the newest one from Thermalright
The fans
make sure the hs fan is blowing down, and make sure you have intake and exhaust fans for the case
the room temp
your room temp will always be cooler than the case, and the case will always be cooler than the cpu, it does no good if your room is 100c
Then again, the diode on the motherboard may be givng faulty readings
When overclocking a cpu, the thing that increases temp the most is voltage, an increase in voltage not only increases the temp of the cpu, but also shortens its life because of elctromanetic "stuff"

There is no such thing as an Athlon XP 2400 Barton.
Bartons only exist in the 2500, 2600, 2800, 3000 (333MHz FSB), 3000 (400MHz FSB), and 3200 s.
You must be thinking of the 2400 T-Bred.

Yup, I got slammed. It's not a Barton. it's the Thorton/T-bred core.

Right now my computer is in a room of 4 computers.
I am sweating bullets and my temps are as follows:
CPU: 54C
PWM: 40C
Case: 36C
Here is a
1,
2,
3 shopping list on how to cool that hot baby down.
Total: About $100.00.
This makes a good summer present.
