Out of 10 tests comparing the Intel Xeon MP 3.0GHz with 4MB Cache 3, the Xeon MP 3.0GHz with 4MB Cache 3 came in 1st only in 3 tests.
The remaining 7 were won by the AMD Opteron 848.
While this new Xeon has a huge Cache, AMD's architecture takes the lead.
If you don't believe me, read the official test review.

The reason for the Xeon failing to do well is becausew of the 100MHz FSB. The AMD Opteron 848, however, has no FSB since the North Bridge is onboard.

Here is some of the dirt.
"An 8-way Opteron vs. Xeon comparison would not be pretty."

Also, for those excited about Intel using the AMD64 architecture, they will name it IA-32e.
