I have modified my case in a few ways. First of all, I cut out the original fan guards (they were blocking around 60% of the air flow) and I replaced them with these nice shiny wire fan guards. After I did that, I realized that the computer seemed louder. I suspect that by removing the metal I removed some of the sound dampening qualities. I then added the Akasa PAX mat to my case and it helped alot. Now, my case runs cooler becuase it has 60% more airflow and is quiter because of the PAX mat.

I might want to try out that mat
