I have a 52x32x52 Liteon CD-RW drive and it is quite loud. (understatement) Is there any way to either quiet it down or decrease the speed to quiet it down.

I had a friend in the not so distant past who complained about a CD-Rom drives noise. HE, like me is an avid archer.. so he adapted something from archery to computer use.

He added Limbsavers to the metal chassis on his CD drive(s) and says it made a huge difference. I can't vouch for the Limbsavers performance on computer parts, but I swear by them on my archery equipment/bow

There exists Akasa Pax Mat which you can cover the inside of your case with, you can also burn cd's at slower speeds. There may be a setting in WINDOWS device manager to set the read speed also. :)

You can copy all your common-used CDs to your hard drive as image files if it is still loud.
