What do you guys think is the best overclocking CPU and some good overclocking CPUs (Intel and AMD)?
Also tell how much they can overclock (original GHz and final GHz).
Me, I love my Athlon XP 1800.
It normally runs at 1.53GHz (133MHz FSB X11.5).
I can OC it to 2.0GHz (200MHz FSB X10).
That is about a 30% overclock.
Remember, normal CPUs can only overclock 5-10%.
As for what I think is the best overclocking CPU, I give the award to the Athlon XP 2500M which normally runs at 1.83GHz can overclock to
2935.7MHzof AMD power.

That is exactly a 30% overclock.

I could easily go to 3.5

Then do it.
SETI loves fast CPUs.

Takes up CPU usage

the 1700+ stock at 1.4GHz, many people have hit 2.4GHz on air.

I'm sure many people have hit it, with air.. but how long did it last? What is the sense of overclocking something to have the lifespan cut in have, or ever worse yet.
A friend of mine OC'd an Athlon 900Mhz T-bird to 1.6g or so, but the jackass spent tons of money on water coolers and all that fancy shizz.. when he coulda bought a 1.6g CPU for far less.

If you get the Athlon XP 2500M (1.83GHz) and overclock it ~2.9GHz, you won't need water cooling.
Also, SETI only uses the CPU power you don't use. It never slows down your PC.

Im sure it lasted a an average life, considering it used the throughbred B core, the same core that reached 2.25GHz, Pretty much just its default speed was low. The life of a processor doesn't really start to decrease until you run high voltages.
