Strange hard drive problem

Post by Slowsauce »

I have a 60GB Maxtor hard drive that has been working without a problem for 7 months now, and recently i took the hard drive over to a friends house to trnasfer some files and his computer has been having a problem where the hard drive corrupts large files. Ever since i hooked it up to his computer, my 60GB has been corrupting large files when i download them. Does anyone know what this could be?

hmmm, well, all my downloaded install files have been corrupt, and i just ran a chkdsk at startup and it fixed a bunch of things and it seems to be running smoother so i hope i fixed it, im kinda curious as to what might have caused the problems in the first place though.

You might have picked up a virus when you moved the hard drive, best to place a suspect hard drive in a known virus checked and updated system. Then fist thing do a compleat scan on that drive.
