In need of serious help

Post by thor492001 »

My computer was running alittle slow, so I took to a friend who was supposed to be very well knowledged on them. To make along story short the Primary IDE channel wouldn't come out of the PIO setting when DMA if possible was on. So he switched the IDE channels and the Primary and secondary both went into ultra DMA mode. Then he said while we're here let reset the processor( by removing it then reinstalling it). Well after he did that nothing would come on, but the fans. The cd-roms will open and close the hard drive ingages, but nothing video( the light on monitor dosen't even turn green). Checked the power supply with another computer and it's ok, checked hard drive and ok. Instlled another processor on motherboard and nothing. So we figured it was the motherboard. Went and got another motherboard, installed it and nothing. Also we tried replacing the RAM and nothing different. I have a AMD 2.8+Ghz CPU, asrock K7S41GX motherboard, Mator 250 GB hard drive, 512 Mbs of RAM, and 350 watt PS Any Help Would Be Very Much Appreciated Getting to the end of my rope here I think.

Sound like you have a bad primary hard drive. If you have access to another computer put it in and see if it boots. Now you say you're friend reset the processor, he may of bent pins on it and inless you're lucky the processor is now trash, to check remove the processor very carefully and check, even more carefully you will have to replace it after you check it.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
