Need Help, Processor is crazy
Need Help, Processor is crazy
Okay here's the deal, my computer tells me the CPU Usage is at 100% even when there are no programs running. It's really slow when this happens (it happens alot) and it seems that if I unplug the internet, restart the computer then plug the internet back in, it's fine again for a while. Does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it?

I would download AdAware (link at bottom of the page).. update it, and then run a FULL system scan. I would also check for viruses by downloading AVG Anti Virus. AVG and AdAware are both free trials, so you're out nothing.
I would also do a Disk CleanUp (start menu/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk CleanUp), or manually delete Temp Internet files and cookies. When you do the Disk CleanUp, check any box that has content that can be deleted. I wouldn't recommend that you compress old files.. leave that one unchecked. After this is complete, do a Disk Defrag (located in the same area as the Disk CleanUp was in). Your problem sounds like either spyware or a virus, one of these programs should take care of the problem.. if infact that's the problem.
Dagger, if you don't have any important files then you might want to re-consider having the whole OS refreshed.
As Wong mentioned, run anti-virus and Adaware and it should do the job, if not, refresh your OS as a last resort.

Hi, I'm having pretty much the same symptoms on my PC, so maybe you could help me too? Something is making my computer lag not just in games but in everything ... help appreciated
ALSO: As I type this my Athlon FX-53 is running at 52 C. Is that really bad? I'm using the stock heatsink but I installed it myself.

you might want to try Spybot S&D and Microsoft Anti Spyware along with Ad-aware (mentioned above) as they all pick up on different things. It still wont guarentee that you will clean your system though, if the problem is spyware.
Personally I would say that 52 isn't too bad, if you have lots of spyware/viruses etc running then you can expect it to be hight than it should be at idle.

You're log isn't too bad, if you aren't running a Linksys wireless remove the files for linksys, (find entries and check the boxes in HIjack this ) if you are you may need to reinstall it. Fixt the other entries and you should be good.
