Micron computer trying to put in bigger drive
I was given a Micron PII with megs of ram and 4.3 gig HDD. I put in bigger hard drive an as I fire it up,it recognizes the hd but beeps and beeps and beeps and say message in setup hit f2 and then erases all the start that was on the screen up. I have a Quantium Fireball 9.0 gig with the jumper set to 4 the factory setting. I can't get it to go into setup, which you have to hit f2 and I hit it as soon as the screen starts up. Any help would be appreciated.

LOOK AT THIS LINK AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE JUMPER SET TO MASTER AS shown, if you still have problems, get the BIOS make and ver. # and count the beeps, check out the BIOS beep codes for the problem.

You may have to install a drive overlay too

You need 300mhz or higher, 128 meg ram, 1.5 gig hard drive space, if you have this then try this put the drive in as a slave, boot up and see if it sees it correctly, if it does partition it with fdisk make one partition and make it active. Now switch it to the master drive and try to install XP, you will be asked to format, use NTFS let me know if it works.

ok I understand.
What i want to do is use the Micron because my other tower has no sides to it,my cousin gave it to me after he upgraded his computer and all I had to do was put a hard drive in it. I would like to take the 350 celeron PII and plug it into the micron motherboard and use my 256 ram in that one too. I will have to find out if the Micron will take it. i can turn my other computer into a 98 so my wife can use that for her games......and it can be a backup for the other computer. Thanks for all the help.
