missing drives
okay heres the situation here...
before i left to work, i had my comptuer running Bitcomet d/l serveral files... don't remember if i had any other programs running.. but...
when i got home from work.. the program Bitcomet gave me an error.. i couldnt close it either..i forgot what it was because i thought it was nothing so i restartd my computer... before i restarted my computer.. i went on "My Computer" and i see my drives where missing.. thought it would be the error from bitcomet so i decided to restart the computer... as it loads up.. it stops where it detects my harddrives.. either i press esc or wait till it gives me nothing detected.. ive checked Cmos also and it didn't detect anything... it was loading so slow too... anyways... i checked my disk management on XP... it shows me my C: and my cdrom drive.. which is G: .. so that means my D: , E: , F: is missing.. E&F is one drive.. so does anyone have this situation im having here and knows how i can fix this problem? i don't want to lose 2 of my drives..
currently running Windows XP... <-- if that helps anything...

Try with just "C" and the CD rom as master hooked up, if OK and one drive at a time as slave and check again, if ok check other drive, if ok hook all up, make sure all drives show in POSt, then look in explorer see if you can see them, Let us know how you make out.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
currently ive tried everything.. including the way you taught me... and i notice that only my 200 gig hdd isnt working.. and if i do plug it in... right at the beginning when bios are detecting the drives.. it shows me that fsd/sdram frequency has been changed.. and then it freezes... n it doesnt happen when i dont plug it in

I would suspect that the 200 gig drive has a problem or virus, if you can read it then get the information of that you want. I would then try using FDISK to remove all partitions, then reformat it, see if it then becomes a usable disk. You may check out themanufactures web site, they may have disk checking utilities the can check the disk health.

yea.. ive set it as master and the only drive with couple different cables.. i guess that didn't do the job.. its from Western Digital.. also got a couple friends to see if i could get it to work on their computer.. didnt work either...
but anyways thanks for the help.. i appreciate it.. i went back to the store and see if i could exchange it with another one.. they gave me a Maxtor.. i guess thats alright.. i hope theres no more problem with this new drive
