Webcam keeps shutting off... please help!

I'm using my webcam on a Windows 98 SE with MSN Messenger version 7.0. I also have dial-up internet with a 56k modem, if that matters. Anyway... When I send my webcam, everything runs smoothly until the other person accepts the invitation to see it. Once they accept, the image from my webcam is choppy (you see a bunch of frames, not a smooth video), and then I get a message that says "You have stopped viewing webcam with ...". It seems like my webcam just automatically shuts off! What is wrong, and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

The dial up internet is too slow to tranfer real time video from webcams.
