CD-R Won't read certain CDs, cleaned or not
That's the problem in a nutshell. My CD drive has capricious whims about certain CDs in my collection that I want to rip, and refuses to read them. They are clean and play on other players, but, of course I want to get them into my mp3 player through my computer. I insert one of the aforementioned CDs, the drive whirs and blinks for a second, but then that's it- it does nothing and the computer doesn't read the drive as having anything in it. Why do some CDs work and others don't? Is there something I can do to get them to read? Aside from the practical knowledge that I'd apply once I found out, I'd love to find out, for purely intellectual reasons, why a drive would disregard one clean CD and play another.
