Got Blue Screen (of death..) with Registry_Error message

Post by dumbdumby »

I use XP Home. Get Blue Screen every time I boot. Registry_Error comes up as cause. CAN NOT boot in any way shape or form. Have XP install disk, it will not let me REPAIR, go to recovery console, nor will it let me re-install windows. If I could somehow get to recovery console I would try CHKDSK /r, but I can't. At this point I am prepared to reformat my hard drive and try to re-install. To do this I managed to get a DOS window open, typed in "format c:" and was told that I can not do this. Does anyone know a way to handle this terrible problem????? IF NOT< does anyone know a way I can re-format my hard-drive so that I can try to re-install XP????????? Suicidal here... any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Someone just suggested that I "erase the partition" while in win98 Dos mode, then, supposedly, my XP re-install disk would work. Can anyone tell me how to "erase the partition"?????

Put in a bootable 98 floppy and when you boot type in FDISK, (must be on floppy) then view the partition, then delete the partition. You can then reboot with the XP cd
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

not too sure how far you've gotten with this issue but I do have one curious question. You wouldn't happen to have a bluetooth card or device installed on this machine do you? Partieâ„¢
