University Bandwidth

As some of you may or may not know, I am attending Purdue University for Mechanical Engineering. Being the networking savvy computer user that I am, I decided to try and get the most out of the Internet connection that is available to me in my dorm, and then get some more ;) I decided that I would need a powerful router, I chose the Linksys RV042. This router is one of the best that I've seen. It supports hardware VPN routing, as well as a great hardware firewall, and most importantly, two wan ports. These wan ports can be used 1 of 3 ways. 1. Use only 1 wan port 2. Use both wan ports (1 primary, 1 backup) 3. Use both wan ports (load balance) I opted for option 3, this would take my roommates and my connection and combine the two. I had to change the mac address of one of my wan ports to match the mac address of the router he originally had plugged into the wal, no big deal. I then ran a speed test at 6.30am local time at: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ these are the results: :D  Image
