Halo evolved for PC is freezing my computer

I installed Halo evolved for my pc and when i open it up and click on Play Game, it brings up a black screen like it's switching to the next menu and it just sits there froze until i restart the computer. I installed the 1.7 patch which to my knowledge is the newest patch for it. I thought i read something about there being a known issue related to this but didn't figure out how to fix it. I am running windows xp pro on an amd athlon 750 mhz processor, 256mb sdram, and am using a geforce 5200 128mb nvidia video card. not a fast computer but should be adequate enough to at least start the darn program! Any help would be greatful[/b]

Did the game ever work on your computer, if so, under which conditions BTW, I am starting up a new forum, http://www.halobb.org specifically for halo, if you like, you could register there and post your problem there

The game was just installed so to answer the question no the game has never worked in the computer before. Thanks for the halo site i will register and post there as well as soon as i can.

which version of directx do you have installed?
