Virtual Paging File

Post by wavyglanbles888 »

I want to increase my paging file as my virtual memory is too low apparantly. I'm on Windows XP. At the moment, my total paging file size for all drives is 311MB. And my space availiable is 24433MB, what should my initial and maximum sizes be? Thanks in advance :)

Recommendation

Windows gives you its own recommendation on the screen where you change the size of virutal memory. It really depends on how much RAM you have. If you have 256MB or less I would recommend doubling that amount. Microsoft has its recommendations, but it really depends on how you use your computer. For example I have 512MB of RAM and my pagefile is triple that because I use some heavy applications that require it.
