CPU temperature fails

Post by michesammie »

Since 2 days i got the following system AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (S939, 1,8GHz, 512KB, Boxed) MSI RS480M2, Xpress 200 (mATX, PCI-e, Sound, LAN, SATA-RAID, VGA, 1394) AMD Boxed Koeler 512MB x 2 (1024MB) PC3200 DDR (TwinMos) Maxtor DiamondMax 10 120GB (SATA, NCQ) NEC ND-3540 16x A soon as I start some basic programs like IE or firefox, the CPU fan goes wild. When i look in the bios it says this: Normal, when he doesnt goes wildl:/ when he goes wild:: CPU temp: 50C, 52C System temp: 29C: 34C CPU fan speed: 2996RPM, 5119RPM System fan speed; 1365RPM, 1350RPM I already did the latest BIOS flash. Nice and Cool is enabled. MSI pc alert gives unrealistc temperatues like 129 Celcius. The heatsink however can be normale touched and is cool. I think it has something to do with the temp. sensor. Anyone got an idea?

What do you mean the fan goes wild, are you talking about it going to high speed? If you are saying that you are running at 129 c you have a bad temp sensor, check to see if it maybe touching a live part. Maybe remount it and see what happens, check to make sure it's plugged in the right spot and the right way, you may have it backwards.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

Well... this is kinda strange. I've known someone who had major temperature detection problems with an MSI board.... it could be that.
