Battery removed and replaced. Defect still the same. Diagnostic LEDs on K7 Pro motherboard hang at memory count. No beeping with motherboard battery removed - possible Motherboard snag ?????? Any more ideas Cheers taff

hmm you mention you have a labtop well have you removed the (CMOS) NOT the labtop battery. do you have a bios speaker? try forcing a fault remove your video card and and start the computer wait for beeping and if there is none check if you have a bios speaker. try removing ALL of your memory and your sound card and if you have one your network card. also when computer stars enter either AWDFLASH or BIOS and DISABLE memory check at startup that all i have at the moment i will try to think of something else.

First of all you don't remove the BIOS it's a chip, the battery is for the CMOS memory, removing it will reset the CMOS setting in the BIOS chip. Now have you checked to make sure the spearker is connected in the computer, or do you have the board with the LED'S? Here is a link for some MSI information you may find handy. http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#1_4 NOw you say you replaced memory why what was the original problem, did you make sure you got compatable new memory> I would start testing with just one stick of memory installed, dissconnect all cards that you don't need to boot (sound, CD roms, hard drives) If you can't boot with one stick of memory try another one, maybe one of the old stick. Be careful handeling it you can blow it by touching the memory conectors.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
