Windows XP File Corrupt

Post by elitemple »

I was loading my COH game, when it frooze. i shut my computer's power off and i must have either deleted or corrupted a file. when i turn on my computer nothing shows up, no task bar, no icons, only my desktop image. when i push ctrl alt delete one program (usually explorer.exe) takes up almost 100 percent of my cpu usage. i have been told to reinstall windows, i tried once and it was a failure, i will try again today but if anyone has other sugestions it would be extremely helpful.

When you boot up press F8 and go into safe mode and try a sytem restore. This may work depending on if you didn't mess it up by trying a reinstall. If this doesn't work you may try to do a repair.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

sound live a problem this is because of your explorer.exe failing possibely from a virus you'll need to install xp on an advanced setting choosing the partition you want to install it on and also the setting and DO NOT install SP1 or SP2 the're a waste of time so don't bother. If you can do a virus scan if you really are ok with it do a format. boot in dos using the F8 key on startup. but all of this should be fixed by a system restore. hope that was helpful

If a repair or restore doesn't work this time around, try to do a full NTFS format instead of a quick one.
