Uninstalling Mcafee

Post by bigDman »

Well I have a Dell Dimension 3000(with windows XP) that i got about a year ago and it came with mcafee even though I asked for no anti virus protection because I have norton. Well anyways I’ve been lazy and haven’t uninstalled mcafee and installed norton but now that the free trail for mcafee is over i went to uninstall it and couldn't. I tried to uninstall it thought the add/remove software part of the computer but it did not work does anyone know how to completely uninstall mcafee so I can install norton

ok before i start why just leave it there it wont hurt or take up .0001mbs of disk space. :!: 8) Umm why not have both? ok if you really wan to uninstall it do this. 1. START MENU > RUN > REGEDIT > CLICK MY COMP > CTRL + F (FIND) > TYPE IN "ANTI-VIRUS" > SEARCH > (2 MINS LATER) > REPEAT STEPS > TYPE IN 'MCAFFEE" > ETC. 2. C:\Windows/Unwise.exe > RUN > C:\*Where you Installed MC AFFEE*\*log*.ini > ETC. 3. Try control panel again. Try to be a bit more descriptive on why it wont uninstall like what is says. Hope that Helped  8)

Check the disks you got with you're Dell, see if you can find McAfee on it and reinstall. After you get this done you can go to C:\programs\McAfee\ and find Uninstall.exe. If this doesn't work let me know.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
