D-Link DFM-562E problems
Hey guys, I am experiencing some problems with my modem.
My computer is an AMD nForce2 chipset ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Socket A, Athlon XP 2800+, 512MB DDR400 RAM, ATI 9800 Pro 128MB AGP running at AGP 8X, 200GB SATA Western Digital HD, 120GB PATA Western Digital HD, LG 16X DVD burner, Lite-on 48X CD-R, Lite-on DVDROM.
This computer has had no problems whatsoever until I got this new modem.
Its a D-LINK 56k serial modem and I have a weird problem with it.
Sometimes when I connect to the internet and leave it on all night, when I check it the next morning I find it still 'connected' as far as Windows is concerned, even thinking it is still sending data, even though the phone line itself has been used for other things during the day. When I go to disconnect the connection using the icon in the system tray, I immediately get a stop error saying "IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL" and then the computer reboots a few seconds after this whereupon I lose all my work.
Sometimes if the computer has been idling a couple of days, just connecting to the internet will cause this to happen.
I went onto the D-LINK website, downloaded the latest drivers and tried to install them but Windows (XP Pro) wouldnt let me.
This problem is extremely annoying, does anyone know what is causing it?
Thanks,
Dane
