Computer randomly loses internet connection in browsers

Post by jerrye25 »

Hello all, I'm having an annoying problem with my computer and web browsers. I have both Internet Explorer and Mozilla on the computer and they will randomly lose the internet connection. It usually happens pretty quick after a restart, although occasionaly, it will allow me to browse for longer. I can also go into my network connections, right click on my ethernet card, click repair and it will fix it. But my connection will then go away again after a few minutes. My Outlook express never loses it's connection, that seems to work okay. Also, I occasionly play poker online through Pokerstars and that doesn't lose the connection either. It seems to be just the browsers. I've already switched out my ethernet card for a new one and I thought that fixed the problem because after I got the new card it did work for a small period of time, maybe half a day or so, but then it all started again. I know it's not my cable modem or my Linksys Wireless G Router. I have two Tivo's and one other computer wired into the router and a wireless laptop. None of these have had any problems. It's just the one computer. I thought I may have a virus or worm or something. I run Spybot and Adaware about twice a week anyway so I ran them again but that didn't help. I've also run Norton (up to date), but nothing was found. I ran the Trend Micro one from their website and it found Java ByteVer.B and Exploit-Byte Verify, but it said both of them were fixed and now when I run it again, it doesn't find them. I'm a computer programmer for a living and I thought I could figure this one, but I'm pretty much at my wits end on what to do...does anyone have anything that could help? Thanks in advance.
