Something seriuosly wrong

Post by A-Train »

While trying to insert and install an PCI Ethernet Card I have done something to the PC. It still works fine but wont regognise my Ethernet card that I have just connected. I have moved it to a different slot, but still doesnt find it. When I first put it in, it found it but now it wont. What have I done? Is this fixable.

See if you can borrow and other network card and try that first. If it works it's your network card and if it doesn't you may have fried PCI slots

Remove the card, then reboot. Now go to add remove hardware, and remove the NIC. Go to add remove software and remove any drivers you added, now shutdown the computer, and reboot, now shut down again. Reinstall the NIC and see if the computer recognises it. If it does you're good to go, if not you have a bad NIC
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
