DDR2 is bad for now and I will explain why.
DDR2 uses higher cas per clock rate which makes them run slower at the same clock rate.
Thus, 500MHz DDR1 beats 500MHz DDR2.
Until 667MHz DDR2, DDR2's only advantage would be that it can hold up to 4GB of RAM and that it is ready for the future. Besides that, it is a slow piece of junk. That is why AMD, with their move to a 1GHz HT, will stay with DDR1 (up to 500MHz) till the 667MHz design of DDR2 is released (2005). Otherwise, DDR2 is just something else to slow you down.
