What OS(s) do you like most?

Post by Smartweb »

I know we have a thread like this already, but now lets ask which one do you like, not use.

Linux is better, period; but Windows is easier to get going. One day a good Linux distro will make something as easy to install as Windows.

NT is only the base of NT 4, 2000, XP, and Longhorn.

Unix is so much better than DOS. Both are command line and Unix is still used even today. DOS is only used in Command prompts in Windows.

Linux is complete ownage... for one it is free!! so it was the only Os i could get in russia heh... and linux can make a piss poor computer run like an average one! and with the new ARK extractors coming with the newer linux versions, its become easier for the dumber computer people to use! and linux is the only OS i no of that can run completly off the disk... and 1 more point, wen you get a linux OS, it comes with about the equivlent of 5000$ in software, if u got it from microsoft.... such as konquerer, open office, graphic programs, code editors, and more! linux is the best by far, and the new red hat fedora has a love of its own...

I thought you would understand what sell ment, i would have explained. I mean Linux is free, so automatically people think MS is better because it cost something (because thats how average people think), but to appeal to the average person linux has to find or create 5000usd of free software equivalent to Windows or else people wouldn't bother. Plus for the average american on user friendlyness MAC would win wiht whatever OSX they have out now."would you like me to change the settings for you" - a MAC os.

I like Windows XP Corp. and Windows XP x64 Pro.
As long as you have spyware protection, it is as stable as Linux.

Yeah.
We don't use it any more since it was not friendly to our most secure network.
At least that is what our network administrator said, ccb056.

Windows is a whole lot more network friendly than Linux. That is why I like it.

Maybe what Aggressor means is that Windows is more compatible with morons like me who like Windows because of the simplicity and the practically plug 'n' play design for networking. All you do is go through some simle wizard and Result!

Tis simple, but good. Linux is, of course, better...

Windows is as stable or even more stable than Linux if it runs with the right software.

Ad-Aware, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard

(Also, don't insult others.)

I dont' know about you, but in SuSE I never had to run a wizard or type the name of a workgroup and I was already a member of my Windows home network when I installed the OS.

My theory about "insults": if I believe something about someone, they have the right to know what it is because it concerns them.

If everyone said what they thought about people, then no one could get a female friend.

"Do I look fat?"
"Yes."
"Bye!"
"Grrr...."

U konw why i think Linux is "so safe" becuase not even 10% of the pop uses, what is the point of trying to find holes in Linux if no one uses it. There is one fault with windows(refearing to spywhere), thats IE, but is easily fixed by Firefox.

A lot of the IE security holes can be used to hack a system if IE is just installed on a computer. It doesn't cover up all IE's problems to just install Firefox. Problem is that the most insecure software program known to man is part of the Windows operating system now.
