How do you roll the computer back a couple days?

Hey. I have Windows ME, and the last 2 days, I have had atleast 5 different programs added into my computer, and it is messing it up. I installed Ad-aware last night, and it got rid of some, but more stuff keeps popping up. How can I roll my computer back a couple days to when the computer was working fine? I know you can do it because my dad has done it before on their computer, but I can't ask him because he will get mad at me. If anyone can help, please reply or IM me on aim. i know how to do a lot of stuff with computers, but i dont know how to do this.

I have never used system restore personally, but a few relatives have, and it didn't solve their problems.

From the way I understand it, System Restore basically takes a screenshot/image of your registry when you create a restore point. When you use "Restore" it only changes the registry values back to what they when you "created the restore point".. it doesn't really fix anything, just deletes/repairs/replaces registry values.

I could be way the hell off on this one, but I have read it on a few website and have been told that by people in-the-know.

It would probbly be best to backup your data, reformat the drive, and install windows over itself.

my dad showed me how to use it, but when i do it, i put it for a week back when it was working fine, and when its halfway done, the computer restarts, and it doesnt work.. ive tried it a bunch of times, using different days, but it always does the same thing.

does anyone have any ideas?
