Do you think you have enough RAM?

Post by Aggressor Prime »

Ok, I was plaing the Demo version of FarCry when I had to minimize it.
When I came back to my computer I found an error message. It basically said I ran out of memory. Now I have 1GB of RAM (2 512MB PC3200 chips with Dual Channel technology) and this message never came up before. I looked into how much memory I was using and my computer said 1.53GB. Now this is only the demo version. Imagine how much RAM you would need for the full version. Then imagine how much RAM you would need for the SM3.0 version. Then imagine how much RAM you would need for the much larger map version, the 64-Bit version.

I think I might need to invest in a few GB RAM chips.

If you are an extreme gamer too, I would suggest that you do the same.

Also, my onboard sound chip on my Shuttle AN35N-Ultra was not playing correctly during the game. I can't wait for Sound Storm 2.

Thats odd. 1GB should be plenty. I own the full version and have beat the full version on 512MB RAM and there are a few instances of HDD swapping that causes the game to get jerky, but to to big a problem. I mininzed after playing the full version for awhile and was running about 600MB on the page file. (when you hit ctrl+alt+del that is JUST your page file, not how much RAM you have used. I notice people getting that confused.

Well maybe I don't need more RAM.
I don't know why my computer used 1.53GB though.
I only was running the game.
Maybe my Video card RAM (64MB) was too slow and it flooded my system RAM.

It only happened once. I can't see it anymore.
It runs ~800MBs now.
