In 14/17 tests, AMD wins. It looks like Intel's 64-Bit extensions for CPUs has failed. If only they had Hyper Transport and an onboard memory controller.

We could expect that for dual-cores.
If they didn't, we can expect a nuclear computer war. 2 Precott cores right next to each other is a very dangerous solution. You will get like 35C with a vapor cooler.

Actually, the Pentium 4 3.6GHz with EM64T technology is the P4f. It is Prescott. And it is Socket 775. And it is technically out.
Also, dual cores does not increase the power for a power application (The program that uses the most CPU power on your machine. It will use around 99% CPU power.)
Since the program can only use one CPU at a time (unless if you are running Quake 3), 2 4GHz cores will only act like 4GHz. And if they are Hyper Threaded, it will act like 2GHz.

That is what the people will think if it has two Prescotts. I truly hope Intel cuts the GHz for IPC and use Dothan for their dual core Pentiums.
This is what we know so far:
Intel Pentium 4 (Smithfield) IA-32 processor is expected to be release in Mid 2005 on a 90nm process. Smithfield is the successor to Prescott and will be a dual-core design based on the Socket 775 platform.
This CPU will come out Q305 according to my sources.
Smithfield will either use two Prescott-like cores or two Dothan-like cores.
I think Intel will use Dothan since so many people loved the Pentium Ms. Also, they are hitting a wall in GHz. Also, I think IA-32 should be IA-32e.
