Hiyas, I just got Mandrake 9.1 installed and I was trying to find tools to uncmpress files such as gzip, any ideas?

Also, what programs would you recomend as general use or linux?

It should come with an unzipping program. You probably just dont' know how to use it.

I use KDE, OpenOffice 1.1, GIMP, BlueFish, FireFox, Thunderbird, GAIM, and KDevelop.
