Javascript, Perl, C++

I recently invested my time in vaguely learning a little Javascript. A friend of mine told me that Javascript has a similar syntax to Perl and C++ and i was wondering if he is correct and by learning Javascript will help me understand Perl and/or C++? Thanks

My advice for those who want to learn to be programmers:

1) Learn Html (and be able to build a simple site with Notepad)
2) Learn VB (or VB .NET or some form of BASIC)
3) Learn C++ (or C# but make sure you learn all about pointers)
4) Learn whatever else you want to know

I would learn as many languages as you like. The more languages you know, the more you can do.

Listen, you know nothing about programming:

A) The more languages you know, the more languages you can use. Not the more you can do.
B) True, learn as many languages as you want, duh, but the order you learn them in matters.

Well, you can't use a HTML language to make .exe's. And you can't use .exe languages to make HTML documents. There are more than one type of computer language. That is what I mean.
