The easiest way to speed the Start Menu:
1. Right Click on the desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click on Appearance
4. Click on Effects
5. Uncheck "Show Shadows under menus"

:(This does not speed up the menus in KDE! There is still a quarter a sec delay. And it drives me MAD! In XP the menus pops up instantly!! But why not in KDE?
Why doesn't the developers fix this??
